Davinia Chism is a 1995 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a BS in Mathematics. She also holds a MS in Systems Engineering from Texas Tech University and a MBA in Engineering Management from Dallas Baptist University. She was a charter member of the Texas Academy of Math and Science at the University of North Texas – a special program where she was able to skip the last two years of high school and enter college early.

Davinia is a Systems Engineer at Bell Helicopter Textron. She serves as the Weapon Systems Integration IPT Lead, where she manages the Systems Engineering, Configuration Management, Data Management, and Engineering Proposals teams for the V-22 Osprey Titlrotor program. Previous experience includes increasing roles of responsibility as a Systems Engineer/Manager on defense industry programs at Hughes Aircraft, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.

Relatively new to SWE, Davinia whole heartedly supports the mission of introducing young women to engineering and helping women develop their professional skills. She has been very active since join SWE in 2003 and has served as the Dallas Section Representative, Dallas Section President, Region C Membership Chair and has served on the National Mega Issue and Membership Committees.

In addition to her professional interests, Chism is passionate about giving back to her community. As such, she freely contributes her time to her church and several community groups. She is active in skydiving and motorcycling road racing where she mentors other women in these primarily male-dominated sports. She has studied and performed Middle Eastern folk dance and belly dance for over 10 years. She is very passionate about animals, wildlife in particular, and volunteers time to rehabilitating and releasing wildlife.

Chism resides in Amarillo, Texas with her raccoon, Nyx. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, sky diving, flying, motorcycle racing, scuba diving, marathon running and her favorite food is chocolate.
