Anna Salguero served on
the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Board of Directors as National President
for the 1992-93 fiscal year. A Fellow and Life Member of the Society,
she joined SWE in 1973 as a student member.
She was Charter President of the Southwest Texas Section as well as
Section Representative. She has also
served as Section Representative of the St.
Louis and New Jersey Sections. On the National level, Anna has chaired and
served on various committees including Scholarships, Career Guidance,
Publicity, Tellers, Nominating, Achievement Award Selection, Upward Mobility
Award Selection and Student Transition Team.
She also served as Protocol Chair for 2001 National Conference. In addition to President, her National
offices included Executive Committee Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice
President-Student Services (2 terms), and President-Elect.
Anna is currently employed at AT&T Labs, Inc. as
a Principal Member of Technical Staff in Austin, Texas. In her current position she is responsible
for Network Management and Operations Requirements for Broadband Access
Technology Systems. She represents
AT&T as the DSL Network Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) at the DSL
Forum, a telecommunications technical consortium. She also has a patent pending in her area
of expertise. Previously, she worked
at another AT&T subsidiary, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in St. Louis, Missouri
as an Area Manager in the Network Engineering department. She began her career as an engineer in 1975
and held various positions in engineering management until March, 1987. At that time she went to work for Bellcore (a research company owned by the seven Regional
Bell Holding Companies now known as Telcordia) in New Jersey on a
rotational assignment where she worked in Advanced Technology Planning. In August, 1991 she returned to Southwestern Bell responsible for managing the
technical support staff for the company's electronic equipment property
record inventory and investment system.
Anna holds a BS degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas
at El Paso. She has completed post graduate work toward
a Masters of Business Administration at St. Louis University.
A recipient of the Mathematics Association
of America Award, Anna has been listed in Who's Who in Texas
and the Midwest. She was also affiliated with the
Math/Science Network and the Arts and Education Council, both of Greater St.
Louis. She is currently an active
member of the Southwest Texas Section of SWE.
