The Distinguished Member Award honors women who have been actively engaged in the Central Illinois Section of the Society of Women Engineers. The nominee must demonstrate outstanding support and participation in the furthering of technical understanding or interest in young women. The nominee must be a SWE member or senior member in good standing and active in local activities of SWE. Participation in other professional and/or technical societies and community organizations is highly desirable as well-rounded individuals are sought for the award. |
The Outstanding Engineer Award is awarded to a qualified woman who has made significant contributions in the field of engineering and/or technical management. She need not be a member of the Society. Requirements include a minimum of an engineering degree or a degree in a technical field. |
- Britta Jost is actively involved in the Society of Women Engineers on a local and regional level. She has demonstrated her devotion to the section and consistently volunteers and delivers on her commitments. Britta sets a great example for the young members and has a passion for recruiting people to SWE and cultivating their engagement. She leads by example and by her willingness to help out. Britta has been a key contributor in making the section what it is today and we look forward to all the new and exciting things we can achieve with her continued leadership.
- Lou Balmer Millar has demonstrated strong technical leadership in a variety of positions. Along with her skills and leadership, she has earned the respect of colleagues and direct reports. We look forward to the continued achievements Lou will make in the field of engineering and her exemplary leadership.
