- Celebrate Central Illinois - 2009 Award Winners Announced
Stacey DelVecchio stands out as a member whom has and continues to make significant contributions to our local SWE Section and SWE as a whole. Her contributions to the Central Illinois Section have not only furthered the section's growth in membership, activities and outreach, but also earned the section recognition from region H and recognition nationally. Stacey has also contributed on a regional and national level within SWE and has been instrumental in getting programs and activities developed and sustainable. She has been a key contributor in making the section what it is today.
Amy Benecke McLaren demonstrates strong technical leadership in a variety of organizations, including outside of her place of business. While it is a notable achievement to excel and lead at your place of employment, it takes additional drive, determination, and skill to lead successfully in ad hoc groups. We look forward to the continued achievements Amy will make in the field of engineering and continuing her exemplary leadership.

This experience fits perfectly with her goal of pursuing warehousing or manufacturing with her industrial engineering degree. Despite her academic achievements, she is involved in the Institute of Industrial Engineering, Alpha Pi Mu, the Society of Women Engineers, and Tying in Touch, where she tutors 4th graders at Tying Peoria Public Elementary School in spelling and reading. Sara is also a member of the Bradley Basketball Band, Symphonic Band, and Bradley Swingers.
Stephanie and Sara will each receive a $250 scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarships, students needed to be a female high school senior, continuing college student, transfer college student, graduate student or re-entry student who would be attending an ABET accredited engineering school to pursue a BS or higher degree full time or studying an ABET accredited program offered outside an engineering school in the Fall of 2009. Applicant's home or school address needed to be inside the SWE-Central Illinois section boundaries. Both Bradley University and University of Illinois fall within these boundaries.
