American Society of Civil Engineers Bridge Bust Competition: Bridge building contest for Middle School (Grades 6- 8). 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Society of Women Engineers: Interactive experiments involving chemistry, aerodynamics, electromagnetism, potential energy, and designing an egg drop, exposing students to a variety of engineering careers
Society of Automotive Engineers: Interactive experiments from their "World in Motion" program. Information on engineering careers.
Farnsworth Group, Inc.: Interactive experiments in Civil Engineering
ASM International Peoria Chapter: Continuous demonstrations on material structures and properties, failure analysis, metal forming, magnetism, and hot metal casting.
Engineering Explorer Post: Experience what it’s like to be an engineer by doing a hands-on activity involving design and construction. Engineering Explorer Post introduces high school students to engineering careers and disciplines (http://www.engineeringexplorers.org)
Caterpillar Inc.: Interactive displays, Cat machine matching game, color-and-build-a-machine activity, interactive circuit game, information on engineering disciplines, and more!
Firefly Energy, Inc.: Interactive experiments using batteries made from household items; display presenting the many engineering disciplines used in battery design including: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and chemical engineering. (www.fireflyenergy.com)
FIRST LEGO League: Interactive demonstration of the robot challenges solved by teams of 9 to 14 year olds with LEGO Mindstorm kits for the 2009 tournament. Explanations of the FLL competition and how to get involved in the 2010 season.
Central Illinois Robotics Club (CIRC): Compete head to head in a battle bot contest. Get exposed to the world of hobby robotics and the local club that leads the way.

Central Illinois Scholarship
The Central Illinois Section of the Society of Women Engineers is now accepting applications for two $250 scholarships. These scholarships are available for female high school seniors, continuing college students, transfer college students,
graduate students and re-entry students who will be attending an ABET accredited engineering school to pursue a BS or higher degree full time or studying an ABET accredited program offered outside an engineering school in the Fall of 2010. Applicant's home or school address must be inside the SWE-Central Illinois section boundaries. Both Bradley University and University of Illinois fall within these boundaries.
