GESTEM Girls Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (fka GESET) is teaming up with STEMapalooza this year to bring you another enriching experience for girls. STEMapalooza will have hundreds of booths showcasing engineering, science, technology, etc., and several will have large areas to offer activities in which boys and girls can participate. GESTEM is a separate entity for girls only with 27 hands-on workshops offered this year – all at the Colorado Convention Center on Friday, October 16th! Date: Friday, October 16, 2009 Time: 9:00 am to 1:15 pm (with Check-in opening at 8:30) Registration for the Event Opens: Saturday, September 19, 2009, 8 am Email swegeset@gmail.com with questions and we will respond as quickly as possible. For additional information on STEMapalooza, see STEMAPALOOZA Location: Colorado Convention Center Cost: FREE This year, 6th and 7th grade girls can register for 1 of 9 GESTEM workshops to be offered at 3 different times. During the other two hours of the GESTEM event, they will tour STEMapalooza with a GESTEM volunteer and participate in some of the mini events happening at STEMapalooza. Volunteers from the fields of engineering, science or technology will be paired with groups of seven girls for the entire GESTEM time so that they can answer questions regarding what the girls are seeing and doing at STEMapalooza and answer questions they have about the GESTEM workshop they attend. After the workshops, schools may choose to return to school or STEMapalooza (without GESTEM volunteers). GESTEM will be limited to 756 girls this year! Registration will close within hours. Schools will be limited to 50 students. Due to limited space, please plan on bringing girls who would benefit the most from this event.
